man died and a woman was critically injured in a three-vehicle collision on Brooklyn’s Ocean Parkway early Monday, prompting a police search for an Audi driver who fled the scene.
The crash occurred around 12:10 a.m. near Avenue S. According to police accounts reported by local media, a southbound Audi struck a Toyota Camry from behind, sending it spinning into a Toyota RAV4. The collision forced vehicles off the roadway and into trees.
The Camry’s driver was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. A 39-year-old woman riding in the rear seat suffered serious neck and back injuries and was hospitalized in critical condition. The RAV4’s 25-year-old driver sustained minor injuries.
Police said the Audi driver removed the vehicle’s license plates before fleeing on foot. Investigators were still searching for the driver Monday morning, and no arrests had been announced.
Witnesses reported that several people were inside the Audi when the crash occurred, according to ABC7. Authorities were continuing to investigate that account as the search remained underway.
