A 39-year-old man was fatally shot in the head outside a residential building in the University Heights section of the Bronx on Tuesday evening, as New York City police continue searching for the person responsible.
According to the NYPD, officers responded to Grand Avenue between West 190th and West 192nd streets at around 6:50 p.m. on August 18. They found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
The shooting occurred near Monroe University. Images from the scene showed police securing the area and crime-scene investigators examining evidence along the sidewalk as authorities worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the killing.
The victim’s identity has not yet been publicly released pending notification of his family. Police have also not disclosed a possible motive or released a description of the suspected shooter.
No arrests had been made as of Wednesday, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are working to establish what led to the shooting and identify the person responsible.
