Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood is welcoming the return of the STooPS Summer Festival today, bringing free arts, live performances and family-friendly activities to the community.
Now in its 13th edition, the annual festival transforms the neighborhood’s stoops, sidewalks and public spaces into stages for local artists and performers, creating an outdoor celebration deeply connected to Bed-Stuy’s cultural identity.
Visitors can expect a mix of music, dance, visual art and interactive programming, along with activities designed for children and families. The festival’s distinctive format uses neighborhood spaces as performance venues, allowing audiences to move between different artistic experiences while exploring the community.
STooPS was created to strengthen connections between artists and residents while making cultural programming accessible outside traditional theaters and galleries. Its summer festival has since developed into a neighborhood tradition showcasing both emerging and established creative talent.
The event also reflects Bedford-Stuyvesant’s long history as a center of Black arts, music and culture in New York City, while providing local artists with opportunities to engage directly with residents.
With admission free, organizers are encouraging New Yorkers of all ages to attend and experience an afternoon of performances, creativity and community celebration in the heart of Brooklyn.
