A 14-year-old boy was injured after being stabbed inside a synagogue in Brooklyn’s Borough Park neighborhood, according to police and local media reports.
The incident occurred on Monday evening inside a house of worship near 54th Street and 17th Avenue. Authorities said the teenager suffered a cut to his hand during an altercation involving a 22-year-old man.
Police officers responding to the scene took the suspected attacker into custody without further incident. The teenager reportedly declined medical treatment at the location, suggesting that his injury was not life-threatening.
Investigators are now working to determine what led to the confrontation and whether the victim and suspect knew each other before the incident. Reports indicated that the arrested man was familiar to members of the surrounding community and had previously visited houses of worship in the area.
