Two Pennsylvania State Police troopers were shot on Wednesday in what authorities described as an “active situation” in northeast Susquehanna County.
According to an official statement from state police, the troopers were responding to a call near Route 171, approximately five miles north of Thompson Township, when the shooting occurred. Both injured officers were transported to nearby hospitals. Their current conditions have not been officially confirmed, though updates are expected.
In a social media post, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan expressed relief upon hearing that the troopers are likely to be in stable condition. “We’re grateful for their service and praying for their full recovery,” he said.
Governor Josh Shapiro, speaking during an event in Bucks County, acknowledged the unfolding situation and extended his thoughts to the officers and their families. “Lori and I are praying for the troopers who were injured. I’ve spoken with State Police Commissioner Col. Christopher Paris and will be heading to the scene once it is secure,” the governor stated.
Authorities have not yet released details about the suspect or the circumstances of the shooting. Police continue to urge the public to avoid the area as the investigation is ongoing.
State officials are expected to provide further updates as the situation develops.
