Governor Kathy Hochul leads Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman 50% to 41% among likely New York voters, according to a Siena University poll released Wednesday. The nine-point lead is little changed from Siena’s August survey, which put the race at 49% to 39%.
Hochul’s strongest support is in New York City, where she leads 61% to 27%. The contest is much closer elsewhere: she leads 48% to 46% in the downstate suburbs, while Blakeman leads 47% to 44% upstate. Blakeman also holds a narrow 44% to 39% advantage among independent voters.
Asked who they expect to win, 66% of likely voters named Hochul, including 37% of Republicans. That measure reflects voters’ expectations, rather than their own choice on the ballot.
Siena surveyed 1,144 likely voters from September 11 to 17. The poll’s core questions have a reported margin of error of ±3.9 percentage points. It is a snapshot of voter opinion during that period, with roughly six weeks remaining before Election Day.
