Death of Concertgoer at Madison Square Garden Ruled an Accident

The death of a 51-year-old man who fell from an elevated section of Madison Square Garden during a concert in June has officially been ruled an accident, according to New York City’s medical examiner.

The victim, identified as Paul Kueker of Niantic, Connecticut, died from multiple blunt impact injuries sustained in the fall, the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner determined. His manner of death was classified as accidental.

The incident occurred on June 20 while Kueker was attending a concert by Connecticut-based rock band Goose at Madison Square Garden in Midtown Manhattan. Police received a 911 call at approximately 9:51 p.m. and found Kueker unconscious and unresponsive with injuries consistent with a fall from an elevated position.

Emergency medical personnel transported him to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Kueker had been attending the concert with his wife as the couple marked their upcoming 25th wedding anniversary.

Following the incident, Goose expressed condolences to Kueker’s family and thanked emergency personnel and venue staff who responded at the arena. The band later supported fundraising efforts for his family.

The medical examiner’s finding provides an official conclusion on the manner of death nearly two months after the fatal incident, determining that Kueker’s death resulted from an accidental fall rather than another manner of death.
