Thousands of demonstrators gathered across New York City on Friday to protest Israeli military operations in Gaza, coinciding with the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is in the city to address the United Nations General Assembly.
The demonstrations were organized by a coalition of pro-Palestinian groups, human rights organizations, and local activists. Protesters marched through Manhattan, carrying banners and chanting slogans denouncing what they described as “Israeli aggression” and calling for an immediate ceasefire.
Heavy police presence was reported around the UN headquarters and other key areas of the city as security was tightened in anticipation of Netanyahu’s speech. Despite occasional tense moments, authorities said the protests remained largely peaceful.
