Authorities are investigating a deadly house fire in Queens as a potential double homicide after two bodies were discovered inside the residence.
Police believe the blaze was deliberately set and are actively searching for the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Jameel McGriff. Officials described McGriff as a convicted felon with a history of violent offenses and warned that he is “armed and dangerous.”
Law enforcement has released McGriff’s description and urged the public not to approach him if spotted. Instead, residents are advised to call 911 immediately.
The discovery of the victims has left the neighborhood shaken, with investigators working to determine the circumstances leading to the fire and the victims’ deaths. Detectives from the NYPD’s arson and homicide units are jointly handling the case.
Police are also reviewing surveillance footage from the area and appealing for witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity near the home at the time of the incident.
Authorities emphasized that ensuring community safety remains the top priority as the search for McGriff continues.
