Trump Mobile Defends ‘Made in America’ Claims Amid Scrutiny Over New T1 Smartphone

Trump Mobile, the recently launched cellular service affiliated with President Donald Trump’s business empire, is standing by its claim that the new T1 smartphone is made in the United States—despite changes to its marketing language and mounting public skepticism.

The T1 Phone, unveiled earlier this month alongside Trump Mobile’s new 5G cellular network, initially featured prominent “MADE IN AMERICA” branding on its website. However, by June 25, all such language had been removed, according to reporting by The Verge. The updated website now uses broader phrases like “brought to life right here in the USA” and “proudly American,” avoiding definitive claims about manufacturing origin.

Despite the edits, Trump Mobile spokesperson Chris Walker rejected any suggestion that the phone is not U.S.-made.

“T1 phones are proudly being made in America. Speculation to the contrary is simply inaccurate,” Walker told USA TODAY.

A pre-order page previously featured a message describing the T1 as a “MADE IN THE USA T1 Phone,” and a Getty Images screenshot from June 16 confirms that phrasing. In a press release issued the same day, the Trump Organization described the T1 as a “sleek, gold smartphone engineered for performance and proudly designed and built in the United States.”

Eric Trump Reiterates U.S. Manufacturing Claims

Speaking on Fox Business’ “Mornings with Maria” on June 16, Trump Organization Executive Vice President Eric Trump reinforced the message that the phone is domestically produced.

“You’re not calling up call centers in Bangladesh — do it right out of St. Louis, Missouri, and you’re going to have phones that are made right here in the United States of America,” Eric Trump said.

He went on to call the initiative a step toward building one of the world’s top technology platforms within the Trump Organization.

“I really believe we’re gonna have one of the great tech platforms of any company in the world,” he added.

Pricing and Service Details

The T1 Phone is currently available for pre-order at a price of $499, requiring a $100 down payment. The smartphone is expected to ship later in 2025.

Trump Mobile is also offering a cellular plan dubbed “The 47 Plan”—a nod to Trump’s status as the 45th and potentially 47th president. The plan costs $47.45 per month and includes:

  • Unlimited talk, text, and data
  • Free international calling to over 100 countries
  • Free long-distance calls for military members and their families
  • No contracts and no credit checks

Additionally, the plan comes with lifestyle services through Trump Mobile’s partnership with Drive America, including:

  • 24/7 roadside assistance
  • Telehealth services
  • Virtual medical and mental health support
  • Prescription medication delivery

As the T1 phone’s launch draws closer, questions about its true manufacturing origin may persist. However, Trump Mobile and the Trump Organization remain firm in their messaging that the device reflects American values and is part of a larger push to build a U.S.-based tech ecosystem.
