Max Kennedy urges the public to dismiss his brother Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s decision to exit the 2024 presidential race and endorse Donald Trump for re-election.

In an op-ed for the Los Angeles Times, Max Kennedy described Trump as the type of “arrogant, entitled bully” that his father, Robert F. Kennedy, stood against before his assassination in 1968 while campaigning for the Democratic presidential nomination. He predicted that his father would have supported Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, because of her background as a prosecutor, likening her career to his father’s dedication to justice and equality.

Max Kennedy expressed his heartbreak over his brother’s endorsement of Trump, emphasizing that Robert F. Kennedy’s legacy was about the well-being and happiness of the American people.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his withdrawal from the independent presidential race on Thursday and endorsed Trump at a rally in Arizona. He stated his intention to remove his name from the ballot in key swing states to aid Trump’s chances but would remain on the ballot in other states.

In a Fox News interview, Kennedy Jr. claimed his campaign was undermined by media “censorship” and exclusion from a June presidential debate. He mentioned his discussions with Trump, including a proposal from Trump to form a unity government.

Kennedy Jr.’s support for Trump has faced backlash from his family, including his wife, actress Cheryl Hines, who was reportedly uncomfortable with the endorsement. His campaign had been mired in controversy, including sexual assault allegations and the promotion of conspiracy theories.

Max Kennedy, a lawyer and the ninth child of Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Kennedy, criticized his brother’s endorsement as “inconceivable,” noting that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had sought a role in Harris’s administration in exchange for his support but received no response, leading him to make a similar offer to Trump.

Max Kennedy highlighted the stark differences between his father’s values and Trump’s policies on issues like racism, immigration, and democracy. He urged Americans to honor their father’s legacy by ignoring his brother’s endorsement of Trump and supporting Kamala Harris and the Democratic platform, saying it is what is best for the country.

Despite the political disagreements, Kennedy Jr. emphasized the importance of family unity and love amidst differing views.
