45-Year-Old Cleaner Killed by Girlfriend’s 19-Year-Old Son in Staten Island Home

A shocking murder has rattled Staten Island after a 45-year-old man, identified as a local cleaner, was brutally killed by his girlfriend’s 19-year-old son inside their shared home.

According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), officers were called to the residence early Sunday morning after neighbors reported screaming and disturbances coming from the property. Upon arrival, police discovered the victim with severe neck injuries and declared him dead at the scene.

Investigators say the 19-year-old suspect allegedly attacked his mother’s boyfriend during a heated argument that quickly turned violent. Authorities are still determining the motive, but early reports suggest the conflict may have stemmed from ongoing domestic disputes.

Detectives recovered a large kitchen knife believed to have been used in the killing. The suspect was taken into custody and later transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries sustained during the altercation. He is expected to face second-degree murder charges once released from medical care.

Neighbors described the incident as “horrific” and said the family had lived in the neighborhood for several years without any prior trouble.

“We never imagined something like this would happen here,” said one resident. “They seemed like a normal family — quiet and polite.”

The NYPD’s 121st Precinct detectives and forensic teams have launched a full investigation, while grief counselors have been made available to residents in the area.

Authorities have not released the names of either the victim or the suspect pending notification of next of kin. The killing adds to a troubling rise in domestic-related homicides across New York City in 2025, which police officials have pledged to address through enhanced community intervention programs.
