A police-involved shooting occurred early Sunday morning in Brooklyn after officers pursued an armed suspect through a residential area, authorities confirmed.
According to preliminary reports, NYPD officers encountered the individual during a routine patrol when he allegedly brandished a firearm and attempted to flee on foot. The chase ended when police opened fire, striking the suspect.
Emergency medical teams responded immediately, and the injured man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. Officials have not yet released his identity or the extent of his injuries.
No officers were reported injured in the incident. The NYPD’s Force Investigation Division has launched a formal inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including whether proper procedures were followed.
