A 64-year-old employee of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) was stabbed in the neck in Brooklyn after a man trespassed onto the subway tracks, according to police reports.

The incident occurred late Tuesday evening, when an unidentified individual entered the tracks and confronted the MTA worker. Authorities say the assailant suddenly attacked the victim with a sharp object, inflicting a serious wound. Emergency responders quickly transported the worker to a nearby hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Police launched an immediate search of the surrounding area, leading to the arrest of the suspect shortly after the assault. Investigators are still determining the motive behind the attack.

The MTA condemned the assault, emphasizing that its employees should not face violence while performing their duties. “Our workers keep this city moving, and they deserve to do their jobs safely,” an MTA spokesperson said in a statement.

The incident has renewed concerns over safety in New York City’s transit system, which serves millions of commuters daily. Union representatives have called for increased protection for transit employees, including additional security personnel in high-risk stations.
