The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued multiple severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings covering New York City, Long Island, and parts of New Jersey and Connecticut. Forecasters caution that storms will be intense and fast-moving, with the potential to produce damaging winds exceeding 60 miles per hour.
Meteorologists also warned of large hail, capable of damaging cars and rooftops, and said that conditions are favorable for the formation of isolated tornadoes across the tri-state area.

Drivers are being warned to avoid low-lying roads, particularly in Queens, Staten Island, and northern New Jersey, where flash flooding is considered most likely.
